Part 1
Day 8 Walking, May 25
Keld Lodge, Keld to Cambridge House Reeth
11.8 miles, but I rode a local bus so it didn't matter.
Here is the route which will be followed in reverse on the way back.
Room at Keld Lodge had twin beds. One which made a good place to spread out the plastic bags.
Martin with Sullivan under table, Becca in background
Martin showing of muscle. He had to life his dog Sullivan over the stiles.
Kieran and one of his walking buddies whose name is absent from this brain.
Dinner, both dishes were from the "starters" menu.
Sat next to Ealt from near Seattle. This is the first long distance walk he has attempted.
Keld Lodge is where this person stayed last night - out in the middle of nowhere - but what a beautiful nowhere!
Officially Halfway to the east coast, which means 1/4 way for Lois.
Learned that Matt and Richard (father and son) from yesterday were going all the way to Reeth in one stretch was due to the fact they live there. Would eat dinner at home. Also, no wonder their legs were so strong as they daily have access to Fell (mountain) walking. Unlike this walker who lives in the flats of central Wisconsin.
The man on the other side at breakfast is hiking the Pennine Way and in September will go to the US for a coast to coast train ride to celebrate turning 65.
Hard not to have conversations with neighbors at meals as they are sitting about 3 feet away on either side.
Today's blog continued in the next. Decided to break down my entries so they will upload faster
